A woman lost her life after gunmen opened fire on a convoy belonging to a former Anambra State governor as she attempted to record the assault with her phone. The attack happened along Nkpor–Nnobi Road in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The assailants, believed to be disguised in police or military uniforms, also shot a policeman in the pilot car — seizing his weapon — and wounded a shop owner who rushed to the scene. Both have since undergone treatment, and the police say a manhunt for the attackers is underway.

Authorities have confirmed the tragic death, offering condolences to the woman’s family and declaring intent to bring the perpetrators to justice.
