Former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar has responded sharply to criticism from the Lagos chapter of the APC, urging them not to fixate on his recent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but rather to scrutinise the true age and identity of their own leader. He described the Lagos APC’s remarks as “hollow, ill‑considered” — labelling them hypocritical and intellectually lazy.

In a statement, Atiku’s media team said his political and personal history — including age, parentage and education — are fully on record and transparent, which sets him “miles ahead” of those whose records remain unclear.

He argued that the focus should instead be on issues like Nigeria’s struggling economy and rising insecurity, rather than “attacks” on his character or political choices. According to Atiku, his decision to work with ADC stems from conviction and a desire for national rebuilding — not desperation.
