A crowd began forming at 9 am on Tuesday outside Popeyes’ new branch at London Bridge Station — in hopes of winning a “lifetime” supply of free chicken sandwiches. 

Two men and a woman, stationed at the front in camping chairs and bundled up against the cold, ended up as the top three after a full 24‑hour wait — earning themselves a voucher for a free Classic or Spicy Chicken Sandwich every year for 50 years. 

Around 50 other hopefuls converged, some travelling from as far afield as Oxford and Manchester. They left with branded T‑shirts, bucket hats, and at least one free sandwich. 

For Popeyes UK, the new London Bridge site marks the chain’s 100th store — a milestone celebrated with jazzy live music and a high‑spirited atmosphere meant to bring a taste of New Orleans to the capital.
