Armed bandits struck a rice farm in Palaita community, Erena Ward, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State — abducting 24 people, including a pregnant woman, while farmers were harvesting crops.
On the same day, another attack on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory resulted in six girls and a teenage boy being kidnapped, deepening fears over escalating insecurity along the Niger–FCT border. 

Locals say the bandits opened fire around 2:00 pm, rounded up the victims and fled before the nearby military base could respond. 

Security agencies have begun efforts to rescue the abducted individuals, even as residents express alarm at how bold and brazen these operations have become.
