The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has ordered that all officers previously assigned to guard high‑profile individuals be withdrawn and sent back to base, following a directive from Bola Tinubu.

The recall affects security details attached to more than 20 VIPs — including former vice‑presidents, a former first lady, a serving minister, and a regional traditional ruler — effectively ending the practice of police‑provided VIP protection under the new policy.

Under the reshuffle, those needing personal security must now request protection from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as the police reinvests freed‑up personnel into frontline community policing and general security duties.
